Australia's Fraser Island, the world's largest sand island lies at the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef, just a 35 minute boat ride from Hervey Bay and a 45 minute flight or a three-and-a-half hour drive from the Queensland capital of Brisbane.

There are daily flights from Brisbane. Greyhound-Pioneer and McCafferty's coaches have several services daily from Brisbane. Trains also run daily.
